The Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario is an independent officer of the Legislature with a multifaceted mandate, including in areas related to the protection of privacy and the right to access information held by provincial and municipal government institutions and the right to access personal health information held by the health sector. We have an opening for a lawyer with both litigation and administrative law experience, who is capable of independently managing a case load of litigation and other files.
What can I expect to do in this role?
The lawyer will be responsible for representing the Information and Privacy Commissioner in applications for judicial review and in appeals before the Divisional Court, in proceedings before various courts and tribunals and in appeals to higher courts. In addition to litigation, the lawyer will be responsible for providing legal services to the tribunal and other staff in other areas as assigned.
How do I qualify?

The successful candidate will be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada, have significant experience litigating applications for judicial review in Divisional Court and appeals to higher courts and have expertise in administrative and public law.
The candidate must also be a collegial team player with good client relations, great attention to detail, and must be used to operating in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
