The French-Language Education Policy and Programs Branch of the Ministry of Education offers this unique opportunity to play a key role in the design, development and implementation of policies, programs, standards and initiatives related to education in Ontario in the areas of:

• the renewal, training and implementation of the Politique d'aménagement linguistique (PAL) and its broad activities within the French-language education system
• the development and implementation of an evaluation framework for the PAL
• the management of project developments in the area of Admission, Welcoming, and Support of Students in French-Language Schools
• strategic planning and policy development for the French-language education system

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• provide strategic leadership, planning, coordination and educational expertise and analysis in the development of a range of highly complex and politically sensitive policies, programs, standards and initiatives related to the government's education mandates
• provide information to school boards with regards to ministry legislation, policies and programs
• develop and sustain positive relationships with stakeholders
• provide strategic and expert educational and policy advice to ministry senior management
• coordinate and provide educational expertise in the development and roll-out of province-wide implementation plans and monitoring strategies

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirement:

• You must be proficient in English and have superior level oral and written French language skills.

Education expertise:

You have:
• demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy and of Ontario's elementary/secondary French-language school system and specialized subject areas to work with school boards, teachers, faculties of education in developing student tools, policies and programs
• experience teaching in a elementary or secondary classroom in Ontario's French-Language education system
• experience applying educational theories, professional principles and practices, instruments and resource materials to lead consultations with educators across Ontario
• knowledge of adult education principles and methodologies to develop and deliver training workshops for teachers and instructions/guidelines to support web-based courses

Policy analysis and development:

You have:
• experience applying research techniques, statistics, test theory, sampling theory to analyse provincial, national and international data to determine strengths and weaknesses and make recommendations to government officials
• experience with research methods and development in the field of education
• demonstrated ability to apply policy development principles and techniques as well as government policy development and legislative approval processes to conduct policy development projects and to develop policy options
• proven ability to interpret and apply legislation and government standards, priorities and policy direction to ensure organizational objectives are considered

Communication skills:

You have:
• consultation and negotiation skills to lead consultations with stakeholders who may have opposing needs and positions with regards to ministry policies and to negotiate the development of resources and resolve conflicts in timelines and completion of materials
• presentation skills to conduct information/training workshops to school boards and teacher teams and customize information/data for different audiences and stakeholders including senior management
• writing skills to draft and edit resource and technical materials, prepare presentations, correspondence, briefing and issue notes

Project management skills:

• You have demonstrated the ability to lead resource development projects, design and implement work plans and manage all phases of work.

Computer proficiency:

• You have computer proficiency in word processing and to create slide presentations, web-based resources and databases.
