Are you interested in working in a large-volume kitchen? If so, consider this opportunity to plan, co-ordinate and provide food services for students, staff and guests of Ontario Fire College (OFC).

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Food Services Supervisor you will:
• be responsible for the preparation of approximately 300 meals a day, responsibilities include the planning, documenting and posting menus
• plan and organize the full food service program
• manage the food services budget and request supplies
• inspect and operate all kitchen equipment designed to produce a large number of meals
• provide supervision and training to subordinate staff and make sure complete and proper food preparation techniques are in place

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

You possess the following:
1) Red Seal Chef certification
2) Food Dietary certification or 5 years experience working in an institutional setting

Technical Knowledge

You have:
• knowledge of menu planning, large volume food preparation, production and distribution processes
• knowledge of general and therapeutic nutrition
• knowledge of daily operations of food services such as production and distribution and sanitation practices
• knowledge of Public Health Act, Food Premises Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Hazardous Materials in order to be in compliance with sanitation standards, food safety and proper equipment operation

Leadership skills

• You have supervisory and leadership skills to provide direct supervision to the food services team
• You can develop internal operating procedures, guidelines and controls for quality, safe food practices, portion control, hygiene, kitchen sanitation and security

Communication and Analytical skills

• You have proven written and oral communication skills to liaise with staff, suppliers and public health officials
• You have interpersonal skills to instruct and train staff
• You have decision-making and problem solving skills to plan, organize, direct, persuade, schedule, and understand helpers and other staff
• You can demonstrate analytical skills to control costs and forecast future food requirements for a large number
