What can I expect to do in this role?

ACT WITH INTEGRITY
-Serving as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of public policy analysts and information professionals, you will provide confidential, high quality, accurate, reliable and non-partisan research and analysis to Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) from all parties, legislative committees, and senior staff of the Assembly
-You will provide subject specialist support in the areas of public finance and administration as well as generalist support in diverse other areas of public policy to this client group
-You will have the ability to research and analyze complex public policy issues thoroughly and quickly, prepare concise, well-written reports, and deliver oral briefings on a broad range of topics in a deadline-driven environment
-You will demonstrate sound judgement, tact, discretion and sensitivity to the political environment as well theability to work quickly and under pressure

SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY
-You are a highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently or in a team with other subject specialist researchers and librarians, and the flexibility and other skills needed to serve a client group with frequently changing priorities and deadlines

DEMONSTRATE YOUR EXCELLENCE
-You have completed a master's degree in public administration, public policy, economics, or a related field
-You are knowledgeable about issues of public finance/administration (such as the budgetary and estimates processes and other aspects of the fiscal cycle, public debt/deficit, and pensions); you further are knowledgeable about a broader range of public policy areas
-You have demonstrated related research and policy analysis experience including the use of qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches plus data visualization skills reflected in the effective use of graphs, charts, and spreadsheets
-You have superior research and analytical abilities combined with excellent written and oral communication skills
-You have experience reading and interpreting public Acts
-You have knowledge of Ontario and Canadian legislative and governmental structures and processes, and Ontario and federal politics
-You have excellent computer skills and proficiency in French would be an asset
