The Ministry of Infrastructure, Infrastructure Policy and Planning Division is seeking a skilled Economist that will provide advice related to municipal infrastructure policy in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• conduct complex policy, statistical and socio-economic research and financial analysis
• provide strategic policy advice related to the municipal and environmental sectors
• manipulate and compile data using qualitative and quantitative analysis
• identify and analyze contentious issues and provide options and recommendations to senior management
• prepare and present research findings, policy options, briefings to senior executives
• establish a network of internal and external contacts and manage effective working relationships with stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Technical Expertise:
• you have knowledge and/or experience in economics, business administration or related disciplines (i.e. urban planning, social sciences, humanities, accounting)
• you are able to undertake financial analysis, capital planning, policy development

Communication and Analytical Skills
• you have advanced analytical, written and oral presentation skills
• you are able to identify issues and prepare effective reports, briefing notes and presentation materials

Computer Skills:
• you have knowledge and experience in the use of information technology and information management
• you have effective computer-based quantitative and graphics skills in order to undertake modelling, carry out spreadsheet analysis, prepare reports and correspondence, conduct research and communicate electronically

Project Management Skills:
• you have project management and organizational skills to work on projects while making optimal use of other professional resources and inputs within and outside the government

  • As a result of the recently agreed to AMAPCEO collective agreement, a new job evaluation system will be implemented on October 1, 2013 and the job code identified in this posting is subject to revision.
