What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
- process transfer payment requests utilizing financial databases
- assist in the review and analysis of Branch budgets
- provide leadership to junior staff in the Finance Unit
- advise and explain Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) legislation, policies and procedures to lending institutions and service providers by responding to verbal and written inquiries
- analyze problem accounts and recommend the appropriate course of action

How do I qualify?

Technical expertise:
- ability to acquire knowledge of student loan policies, procedures and legislation
- ability to apply and interpret relevant sections of the Income Tax Act relating to bankruptcys
- working knowledge and understanding of accounting and budgeting concepts, procedures and practices
- demonstrated knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and understanding of accrual accounting practices and reporting requirements
- demonstrated knowledge of financial statements

Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills:
- excellent organizational skills to prioritize work and competing demands
- well developed analytical and research skills to investigate and review financial database entries
- demonstrated problem-solving skills to determine over/under expenditures

Communication, interpersonal and organizational skills:
- strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with various internal and external client groups including Trustees in Bankruptcy, lawyers and Federal government agencies
- excellent written communication skills to prepare correspondence

Computer skills:
- demonstrated working knowledge of personal computers, financial information systems and related software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and various other computer databases
