The Ministry of Natural Resources is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented, highly motivated individual to assist in conducting program and policy analysis in support of the Aboriginal Policy Branch, Policy Division.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As the Aboriginal Relations Intern, you will research information and analyze options to contribute to the development of new policy and assist in the development of mechanisms to transfer new policy for implementation. Duties include tracking ministry policy and program development; participating in cross-program and inter-ministerial project teams; assisting in strategic planning, communications and consultation activities.

How do I qualify?

• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada; and
• Proof of full-time enrolment in a recognized post-secondary college or university graduation within the last 5 years.
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.

Knowledge and Skills
• Written communication skills to prepare technical reports, presentations, briefing and communication materials;
• Analytical skills to review and synthesize technical, policy and legal information;
• Organizational skills to assist with planning and delivery of meetings and workshops and manage multiple projects at the same time;
• Oral communication skills to participate in internal ministry meetings and make presentations as required;
• Information management skills and computer skills to conduct research, manage information and prepare reports;

Note: Relocation and temporary living expenses will not be available.

Note: The successful candidate will begin at the base-level pay rate and will move up in the pay scale in accordance with the OPSEU collective agreement.
