Are you a team player interested in learning about natural resource management and the application of relevant legislation to manage Crown Land and natural resources? This may be the opportunity for you!

What can I expect to do in this role?

• To assist the Lands & Waters Technical Specialist in the coordination, circulation and issuance of Public Lands Act Work Permits and Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act approvals
• To assist the Lands & Waters Technical Specialist in the review and processing of tenure documents
• Supporting the delivery of inspection, compliance and audit activities
• Assist with providing technical support and advice to staff and clients on matters such as land ownership and tenure, Crown land surveys, and licensing & permitting requirements

How do I qualify?

• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
• Proof of full-time enrolment in a recognized post-secondary college or university or graduation within the last five years;
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements and must meet the above eligibility criteria for the duration of both placements.

Knowledge and Skills
• A working knowledge and understanding of ecological sustainability principles and resource management practices
• An ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures
• Analytical and problem solving skills to review, analyze and evaluate user impact on natural resources
• Well-developed communication skills to comprehend and share legal and technical information with professional staff and clients
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work individually as well as in a team environment, interact with staff, members of industry, stakeholder groups, resource users and the general public
• Knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the OH&S Act that apply to the workplace and the work being performed

Note: The successful candidate will begin at the base-level pay rate and will move up in the pay scale in accordance with the OPSEU collective agreement.
