The Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care has an exciting opportunity for a financial professional to take their career to the next level in this management position in the Mental Health & Addictions Unit.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:
• Manages the provision of financial expertise and support services to ministry customers in the areas of financial forecasting, controllership, reporting and analysis
• Leads the development, communication and implementation of financial mechanisms, controls, templates and processes
• Develop and manage unit staff as well as the budget
• Manages reviews of customer branches and divisions to assess compliance with directives, policies, and procedures
• Provides strategic advice and information to identify options for improving the ministry's overall financial controllership framework and the proactive identification and resolution of issues

• You have expertise in structuring, organizing and managing multiple complex projects, with a proven track record of successful project completion
• Demonstrated skills in managing financial budgets and human resources, including labour relations issues

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and strategic financial planning, financial controllership and risk management principles
• Knowledge of performance, financial and management processes, business and financial planning and reporting within a high profile, complex environment
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
• Relationship management skills to promote clear, open communications with ministry staff and stakeholders
• Ability to develop and present planning proposals, financial documents, training and communication materials to senior executives

• Analytical skills to interpret a broad range of information and situations that affect the delivery of financial management services
• Ability to use analytical and problem solving skills to identify key issues, conduct complex analyses, make decisions and develop creative solutions

• An understanding of the ministry's strategic directions, key initiatives and healthcare programs
