We have an opportunity to showcase your leadership and analytical skills to lead projects and teams and provide program expertise, strategic and operational support to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change- Source Protection Programs Branch.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• lead, coordinate and evaluate source protection related issues
• provide project management and team leadership
• provide guidance and advice regarding source protection and delivery to internal and external stakeholders.
• provide leadership and strategic advice regarding decision making processes and management of initiatives
• provide sound interpretation and advice on legislation and policy

NOTE: The Source Protection Programs Branch is located at 40 St Clair Avenue West in Toronto. This position may be located at any MOECC office in Ontario (with successful negotiation of available space) and will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the location of the successful candidate (subject to management approvals).

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Technical Skills

You have:
• Ability to interpret and apply various government environmental legislation (eg, Clean Water Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act), regulations, ministry policies and programs related to source water protection
• Knowledge of and skills in theories, principles, practices and methods of environmental protection, management and science
•Knowledge of government policy-making. planning, reporting and decision making directives, policies, practices, guidelines, techniques and processes

Communication , Interpersonal ,Consultation and Computer Skills

You have :
• Interpersonal and relationship- building skills to exchange information, consult on shared interests and projects, practices with various stakeholders
• Collaboration skills to work with Ministry staff and program stakeholders to resolve issues and concerns
• Presentation skills to make recommendations , advise on program adequacy and to provide advice and guidance to program staff, branch management and senior management.
•Oral and written communications skills to effectively provide expertise and advice to senior management, resolve issues and prepare Ministerial briefings, coordinate business plans and develop guidance materials.
•Ability to prepare reports, presentations and related materials
• Proficiency with computers and software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations

Project Management and Leadership Skills

You have :
• Ability to lead / manage concurrent projects and to provide technical and policy direction to project teams while working under limited timelines
• Experience taking the initiative to resolve operational issues and support service delivery
• Led the development of operational procedures
• Knowledge of project management cycle, and source protection and planning tools, mechanisms and practices to track programs and activities.

Analytical , Problem Solving and Issues Management Skills

You have
• Ability to manage issues, support program managers, identify potential issues and make recommendations.
• Ability to assess and evaluate program performance,and operational policy issues and practices, fiscal, policy and service impacts, systems, processes , develop and recommend options and evaluate cost effectiveness.
• Understanding of risk analysis principals and apply these to environmental issues
• Experience taking an analytical approach to managing issues and solving problems
