Are you interested in public policy? Would you like to join a multi-disciplinary team of legal, political science, public administration, social and other public policy analysts? The Office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a dynamic, client-oriented individual to provide high quality, confidential, non-partisan research and analysis to Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) from all parties, legislative committees, and senior staff of the Assembly.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a member of the Legislative Library and Research Services branch, you will have the ability to research and analyze complex public policy issues thoroughly and quickly, prepare concise, well-written reports, and deliver oral briefings on a range of topics in a deadline-driven environment. You will also be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently or in a team, and the skills necessary to serve a client group with changing priorities and deadlines.

How do I qualify?

Qualifications

To be considered for this position you will need at minimum a master's degree in public administration, public policy, or a related field, knowledge of public administration/finance (such as the budgetary and estimates processes and other aspects of the fiscal cycle, public debt/deficit, alternative financing and procurement, and the reports of the Auditor General of Ontario) as well as of a broader range of public policy areas. You should also have 2-5 years of related research and policy analysis experience including the use of qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches; data visualization skills reflected in the effective use of graphs, charts, and spreadsheets; experience reading and interpreting public Acts; knowledge of Ontario and Canadian legislative and governmental structures and processes, and Ontario and federal politics; superior research and analytical abilities; excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to work well under pressure; sound judgment; initiative, discretion, tact, sensitivity to the political environment, and flexibility; and excellent computer skills. Proficiency in French would be an asset.

The salary range for this position is $76,941 - $98,089 per annum.
