Do you have a strong background in financial and econometric analytics, as well as good familiarity with the energy sector? If you are ready to step into a strategic leading role, consider this opportunity as Team Lead with the Ministry of Energy's Analytics and Finance Section.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• develop financial models to support strategy and business cases; provide value added financial expertise and financial analysis
• manage and lead the planning, development and delivery of specialized financial analytic and econometric modeling services dealing with the energy sector and agency performance;
• think strategically and manage the delivery of qualitative and quantitative economic policy research and analysis;
• provide strategic advice and recommendations to ministry executives and senior management on energy-related issues based on solid financial, statistical and econometric information analysis.
How do I qualify?
Specialized Knowledge:
• You have demonstrated knowledge of the theory, principles, methodologies and practices of financial analytics and econometric modeling and analyzes techniques, financial analysis and management principles and methodologies.
• You have knowledge of the broad economic, environmental, legal, financial, and political issues underlying policy development in the energy sector and industry, particularly pertaining to electricity.
Analysis and Evaluation Skills:
• You are able to build financial models using MS Excel, utilizing best practices in modelling with a solid understanding of financial and management accounting and an ability to analyze financial statements and various valuation techniques
• You have demonstrated experience applying policy and program development principles and techniques to inform government decision making processes.
• You have proven experience applying program analysis and evaluation techniques to contribute to the development of benchmarks and performance criteria.
• You are able to analyze, evaluate and conceptualize plans and lead the identification, research and development of policy and service design/program options, including impact analysis, and development of options and recommendations.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You have displayed interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills to build effective linkages and represent the ministry policy/position on issues with political implications to other governments and internal/external stakeholders.
• You have exhibited consultation and influencing skills to discuss issues, provide strategic advice to senior management and gain consensus for strategic ministry policy and program initiatives.
• You have applied effective communication skills to respond to issues, prepare reports, options papers, analyzes, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence.
Team Leadership Skills:
• You have shown leadership, presentation and facilitation skills to develop and present outreach initiatives and communication strategies.
• You are familiar with human resource practices, policies, application of collective agreements to plan, estimate and assign resources efficiently and effectively in accordance with corporate HR policies and collective agreements.
