The Ministry seeks a talented professional to lead the planning and development of related strategies, policies and programs for the Government of Ontario's realty portfolio. You will also have the exciting opportunity to help provide foresight, oversight and insight into complex agency relationship and governance for the Ministry's agencies, Infrastructure Ontario and Waterfront Toronto.

What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• lead the development and implementation of strategic policy projects, legislation, and help provide agency governance related to the government's realty portfolio.
• provide advice and expertise to ministry senior management, other ministries and agencies on provincial government's realty portfolio
• serve as a ministry representative on ministry, cross-ministry or inter-jurisdictional working committees and task forces
• build stakeholder relationships, gather intelligence, obtain data, develop consensus, collaborate on policy development or research, and identify and resolve concerns and issues
• contribute to the development of benchmarks and criteria for the monitoring and evaluation of policy initiatives across sectors
How do I qualify?
Policy and program development skills:
• expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with policy and program development principles and techniques to lead and/or participate in the development of provincial policies and programs
• experience with economic, financial and program analysis and evaluation techniques to contribute to the development of benchmarks and performance criteria to assess the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs
Research and analytical abilities:
• expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in research methods and techniques to plan/conduct environment scans, analysis of best practices, qualitative and quantitative research, and analysis of options and impacts
• ability to evaluate the implications and impact of proposed policy changes and competing interests of stakeholders, to modify/make changes to mitigate potential risks and achieve government goals and objectives
Realty management knowledge:
• knowledgeable about the broad economic, environmental, legal, financial, and political issues underlying policy development in the real estate management sector
• knowledge of the real estate industry, land use, facilities business, procurement/contract management policies/guidelines, and real estate business valuation to oversee the survey, research and development of policies, solutions and to provide advice as a technical expert
Interpersonal and communication skills:
• consultation, diplomacy and political acuity to provide strategic advice with political implications to senior management, other governments, and internal/external stakeholders
• networking and relationship management skills to build cross-jurisdictional stakeholder relationships, and to represent the ministry on inter-jurisdictional working committees
• presentation and facilitation skills to develop and present outreach initiatives and communication strategies
• communication skills to respond to issues, prepare reports, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence
Leadership and project management skills:
• ability to provide leadership and project management expertise to policy analysts when leading/coordinating research and policy development projects, and to implement initiatives related to strategic real estate management
Decision making and strategic thinking:
• ability to make decisions guided by provincial and ministry strategic directions, and government directives and procedures
• ability to think strategically and make effective recommendations that impact sustainable development in the province
