Are you an environmental professional looking to contribute to the Ministry's role in protecting and conserving our Great Lakes? If so, then don't miss this opportunity to lead and coordinate a range of policy initiatives with the Climate Change and Environmental Policy Branch.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• Conduct policy research and analysis and assist with developing cross-sectoral programs, policies, and projects.
• Develop and present briefing materials including policy research, options, and recommendations for senior management.
• Liaise with colleagues across government and key stakeholder groups and Indigenous communities to exchange research information and consult on policy options.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge of Policy Development and Environmental Issues

• You have knowledge of policy and program analysis and evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of policies and programs and provide recommendations.
• You have knowledge of government decision-making processes.
• You have expert knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of Great Lakes management
• You know municipal, provincial, federal and international (U.S.) environmental programs and agreements pertaining to the management of the Great Lakes.
• You know environmental legislation (e.g. Great Lakes Protection Act), regulations, policies, and programs.
• You have scientific knowledge of the current environmental status of the Great Lakes ecosystem.

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct policy research, program development, monitor trends, analyze information, and evaluate quantitative and qualitative factors.

Communication, Interpersonal, and Presentation Skills

• You have strong communications skills to draft policy papers, reports, analyses, correspondence, briefing notes, and materials for cabinet submissions.
• You have facilitation and presentation skills to provide research findings on branch policy and program development projects.
• You have strong interpersonal skills including consensus building and negotiation skills to work in teams and participate in consultations across government and externally.

Computer Proficiency

• You are proficient with computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management and presentation software to research and prepare briefing materials and policy submissions.
