We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to provide expert analysis and advice on international and domestic trade policy issues.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
• conduct research and analysis
• identify options and make recommendations
• prepare reports, briefing material, Cabinet submissions, and correspondence
• conduct consultations within the government and the private sector
• develop and maintain contacts with officials in other ministries, other governments and the private sector
• represent the ministry on interministerial and intergovernmental committees.

How do I qualify?

Technical Expertise:

• You have expert knowledge of international and domestic trade policy issues, including the World Trade Organization (WTO), North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) agreements
• You have expert skills in researching, interpreting and analyzing policy issues to provide advice and recommendations on policy and program proposals
• You have an understanding of policy development and decision-making structures in the public sector to support policy formulation
• You have strong computer skills to analyze electronic information sources and statistical data in order to produce reports, papers, and presentations

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You have demonstrated expert communication and presentation skills to prepare briefing material and position papers for the Minister and senior officials
• You have the ability to work effectively in a team environment
