What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:

• Manage and coordinate the delivery of professional real estate services including appraisal, negotiations, and property sales, leasing and interim management on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You have a valid class 'G' license or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario

Technical Knowledge

• You have a thorough knowledge of Ontario real estate practices, legislation, contract law, common law, and real-estate law with the ability to interpret and apply relevant case law and precedents; sections of the Expropriations Act, Planning Act, Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act; and goverment policies/directives
• You have knowledge of property appraisal standards, practices, techniques and methods to estimate values for compensation purposes, as well as, viable and non-viable holdings for disposition
• You have thorough knowledge of and experience in applying theories and practices of negotiations, disposals and interim management of land
• You have the ability to read and interpret legal descriptions; survey plans and engineering drawings

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

• You have excellent written communication skills to prepare in-depth narrative appraisals and reports, prepare correspondence to the public and provide written documentation on consultant performance
• You have excellent oral communication skills to present before mediation panels including the Board of Negotiation and public forums such as Public Information Centres

Negotiation Skills

• You have proven negotiation skills to negotiate with property owners, and their legal representatives for the acquisition of lands and/or the negotiations required to effect sale/lease with prospective purchasers/tenants

Analytical & Problem Solving Skills

• You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve contentious issues, clarifying compensation, mitigate construction and inspection related problems
