The Health Services I&IT Cluster, Technology Management and Solutions Integration Branch is looking for two Senior I&IT Project Managers to provide project management of large scale, multi-ministry/cluster, multi-year projects for I&IT initiatives spanning a larger number of client areas.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Senior I&IT Project Manager, you will:

• provide project management of large scale, multi-ministry/cluster, multi-year projects for I&IT initiatives involving development of new solutions and the modernization and enhancement of existing solutions; comply with I&IT project gating requirements and use of project and portfolio management tools;
• develop systems performance measures, lead systems testing and evaluation and ensure systems and solution changes are implemented according to established budgets, schedules, processes and best practices;
• consult with clients, stakeholders, external vendors, senior management, and provide technical advice and recommendations; and
• provide leadership and guidance to project and solution teams to enable progress of project deliverables and ensure continued supportability and sustainability of solutions in a variety of environments.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• you have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience with the systems development life cycle including analysis, architecture principles, design techniques, systems development methodologies and tools, testing and implementation to plan/manage large scale multi-year projects
• you have knowledge of technology trends, standards, processes and strategies to direct resolution of analysis and design challenges, define project scope and ensure project compliance with standards, project gating and system integration all while ensuring that critical business objectives are met

I&IT Program and I&IT Project Management Knowledge and Skills

• you have experience leading strategic and tactical management of concurrent large scale I&IT systems projects
• you can develop I&IT project budgets based on multiple funding channels
• you can supervise I&IT project and consultant staff
• you can analyze I&IT project environments to identify potential risk events and issues, articulating and prioritizing with recommended mitigation strategies

Leadership and Resource Management Skills

• you can plan and lead all phases of complex multi-ministry and jurisdictional enterprise-wide I&IT projects
• you can schedule activities, explain procedures, and monitor the work of assigned technical resources
• you can estimate resources, supervise and provide leadership/guidance to I&IT project teams and manage processes

Consultation, Communication, and Collaboration Skills

• you can consult with clients to identify I&IT solutions and advise on technical issues, and provide recommendations to management/staff regarding most effective system strategies
• you can deliver presentations to clients, stakeholders, and senior management
• you can foster an effective working environment for staff
• you can effectively manage issues impacting the solutions environment including escalations to senior management

Other Essential Knowledge and Skills

• you have organizational, planning, and problem solving skills to analyze/recommend innovative systems alternatives and integration strategies, and to identify, monitor, manage and mitigate risks and issues within I&IT projects
• you have knowledge of change and issues management principles, tools and approaches
• you have procurement knowledge and skills to support policies and practices in the acquisition of business solutions, development and operational support tools and I&IT project staff
• you have knowledge of project and portfolio management tools such as MS Project and Planview
