Do you have expertise in systems development and programming? Do you have consulting skills to work with a variety of clients to support them in the use of information technology to meet business goals and objectives?

If so, consider this opportunity with the Government Services Integration Cluster's Contact Centre Modernization Branch where you will lead teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of cost effective information technology solutions and services.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• provide group leadership in the technical design, development, implementation and support of complex technical solutions and applications including back-end integration using web services
• provide leadership in completing research activities to establish technology direction, strategy and standards
• develop technology performance standards, evaluate or develop new utility routines and provide practical technological input to innovative applications design and development approaches
• recommend technical system development solutions which meet client needs and promote overall Cluster IT strategies and objectives
• act as a resource in the resolution of technical problems

How do I qualify?

I&IT Technical Experience:


You have:
• knowledge of systems design, configuration, integration and development, IT security, programming concepts, languages and related methods, techniques, practices and standards (e.g. JAVA, J2EE, HTML/DHTML, XML/XSL, DB2, Oracle, Websphere Suite including Application Server, Websphere Portal Server, WebSphere Process Management, WebSphere JRules, Microsoft IIS)
• experience with online forms development tools and technologies (e.g. IBM Lotus Forms server Forms Experience Builder)
• development experience using emerging technologies (e.g. Web Services, Portal, JSR 168/286, Web 2.0, Electronic Forms, Content Management, e-commerce, mobile development, AODA)
• experience using reporting tools (e.g. Jasper, Crystal Reports)
• knowledge of database design and management systems (e.g. Microsoft SQL and Oracle) and application database administration
• experience developing or modifying systems, as well as evaluating and recommending acquisition of applications, hardware/software and information technology services
• experience with operating systems, custom application development software, packaged applications, and networks
• knowledge of emerging internet technologies to lead the identification and evaluation of information technology options for clients

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:


You can:
• evaluate and assess client information and system needs
• define information technology and business requirements
• recommend and develop information technology solutions which are cost effective and support the improvement of client program and service delivery
• identify, design, develop, test and implement system solutions
• acquire and apply knowledge of GSIC standards, administrative policies and directives to ensure compliance of recommendations on acquisition of technology and services and the negotiation of contracts
• acquire and apply knowledge of client business, processes and requirements to recommend systems development solutions

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


You have:
• consultation, interpersonal and team work skills to discuss client requirements, lead discussions of system development options and technical process and to work effectively with colleagues and clients
• the ability to clearly explain alternate system development solutions to clients with limited technical knowledge
• written communication skills to prepare business cases, Request for Proposals, contracts and various project reports

Leadership and Project Management Skills:


• you can provide technical leadership to project staff and external stakeholders
• you have knowledge of project planning methodology to coordinate the development of technical project plans and control project process
