What can I expect to do in this role?
As part of the Ring of Fire Aboriginal Community and Stakeholder Relations team, bring your knowledge of Indigenous culture, project management and research skills, and apply your communication skills by:
• providing project planning and implementation in support of the ministry's Indigenous initiatives
• engaging with Indigenous communities and other ministries and clients
• tracking project activities, including reviewing and monitoring project progress, key deliverables, timelines and budgets
• assisting in the development of workshops and preparation of presentations, work plans, briefings and reports
• conducting research and analysis for program initiatives and participating in the development of standards, processes and performance measures
• participating in various committees and working groups
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You must have graduated from a college or university, with a degree, diploma or post-graduate certificate, within the past five (5) years.
• You must be an Indigenous person (i.e. First Nations, Métis, Inuit).
Specialized knowledge:
• You have knowledge of Indigenous culture, governance, community perspectives and political dynamics.
• You have knowledge of lands, resources and economic development issues and trends in Ontario.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
• You can provide and exchange information as well as prepare and present briefing and communications material.
• You can participate and contribute to committees and projects.
Project management and organizational skills:
• You can plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.
• You can assist with the planning and delivery of meetings and workshops.
Research and analytical skills:
• You can conduct research and environmental scans, and analyze and compile information/data.
• You have knowledge of performance measurement methodologies and evaluation techniques.
Computer skills:
• You are proficient in common software applications to prepare presentations and reports, conduct analysis, and perform research on the internet/intranet.
