Do you have strong policy analysis, analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of the government's fiscal cycle? If so, then consider this exciting role to contribute your exceptional coordination skills and knowledge of policy development to the Assistant Deputy Minister's Office at the Taxation Policy Division of the Ministry of Finance.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

- identify and analyse relevant aspects of the tax structure/system and the policy development process
- coordinate tax papers for the Ontario Budget and Fall Economic Statement
- coordinate, plan, organize, prioritize and respond to requests for information
- prepare presentations, briefing material, budget papers and various correspondence
- maintain and organize electronic files
- liaise with staff and senior managers in finance, line ministries, government agencies, and with federal and provincial counterparts to discuss tax policy

How do I qualify?

Research and Analytical Skills:

- you have proven ability to research, analyze and provide advice to senior management and contribute to the policy program development process
- you are able to gather, evaluate and analyze data

Technical Expertise and Knowledge:

- you have knowledge of the government budget cycle and decision-making processes
- you have demonstrated knowledge of the policy development, economics, and qualitative and quantitative analysis
- you can develop policy options for the government's consideration
- you are familiar with Ontario's taxation system and taxation principles

Communication, Consultation and Relationship Management Skills:

- you can prepare taxation policy notes and briefings, and contribute to the development of budget papers
- you are able to provide policy advice and explain policy issues to senior management
- you can maintain and develop effective relationships with stakeholders

Computer Skills:

- you have excellent computer and document editing skills to prepare reports and briefing material using word-processing, spreadsheets, graphics and database software
