What can I expect to do in this role?

• Provide trust, custodial and estate accounting services
• Accurately perform required complex accounting calculations
• Respond to informational requests including those from other areas
• Draft correspondence in response to verbal and written requests

How do I qualify?

Customer Service and Communication Skills

You have:
• Oral and written skills to effectively communicate with the public, banking officials and other program area representatives

You can:
• Draft unique correspondence/reports and/or substantial variations to standard formats
• Provide general assistance and information by responding to inquiries at reception and answering telephone queries
• Support program area by explaining accounting policies, procedures, practices and directives as they apply to financial processing

Technical Knowledge

You have knowledge of:
• Trust accounting policies, procedures & practices and banking/surety procedures (e.g. funds credited to trust/custody and other liability accounts are balanced to funds deposited)
• Applicable statutory provisions for each program area and related legislation (e.g. knowledge of Substitute Decisions Act for guardianship clients, Courts of Justice Act, Rules of Civil Procedure and Insurance Act for minor clients, OAS/CPP legislation for entitlement to benefits by guardianship clients etc.)

You have the ability to:
• Perform mathematics to recognize errors, perform necessary calculations, quantify data and prepare financial statistics, calculate investment income and compensation fees
• Acquire knowledge of various policies and procedures in order to provide assistance/information to the public
• Administer trust and custodial accounts

Computer Skills

You have knowledge of:
• Online, fully-programmable database computer system
• Word processing, presentation software, spreadsheet and database applications
• The use of calculators, telephones, facsimile machines, e-mail, photocopiers, microfiche readers, personal computers and printers

You have:
• Typing and keyboarding skills to OPS standards

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

You can:
• Review legal documents and financial data and arrive at suitable relevant conclusions
• Identify and handle discrepancies and/or missing/inadequate/conflicting information in legal documents, correspondence and client accounts
• Perform periodic reviews of dormant vendors
• Archive dormant vendors as required including scanning and sending documents offsite for storage
