If you would like to be a part of the exciting changes at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and you are an experienced and skilled bilingual professional interested in providing legal administrative, secretarial and clerical services for the Tribunal, then consider this position as an Adjudicative Support Assistant

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will provide services to Tribunal Vice Chairs by preparing legal and quasi-legal documents and correspondence, proofreading decisions for accuracy, punctuation and grammar, and issuing and publishing decisions through Canlii and Quicklaw. You will also assist adjudicators in maintaining their calendars and schedules, making travel and accommodation arrangements, and establishing and maintaining effective filing and bring-forward systems.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

-Proficiency in English and Advanced Oral and Written Proficiency in French.
-Typing skills of 50 words per minute.

Technical Skills:

-Demonstrated knowledge of legal and general office administration procedures, legal terminology and legal documents; ability to interpret legislation.

Organizational, Judgment and Problem Solving Skills:

-Experience in reasoning and problem solving in order to prioritize work when performing a variety of different tasks with conflicting deadlines.
-You can prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and experience in using tools and methods to track work.
-Proven judgment skills to maintain confidentiality and proactively identify issues for referral.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

-Proven communication and interpersonal skills to proofread and edit (grammar and punctuation) a range of documents and to create correspondence to ensure accuracy and completeness.
-You can respond to inquiries with tact.

Computer Skills:

-Experience in using computers and general office equipment to prepare correspondence, maintain calendars and use case management systems.
-Demonstrated keyboarding skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and calendar, database, and case management software.
