What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• receive and check incoming goods, products and equipment
• stock items, maintain storage control, and fill stock requisitions and orders
• assemble and pack goods and products for distribution and use
• reconcile purchasing card statements
• provide training, direction and supervision to staff and inmate helpers
• update manual and computerized storekeeping databases

How do I qualify?

Mandatory Requirement:

• you possess a valid Lift Truck Licence

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• you have knowledge of stock-keeping and purchasing practices and procedures
• you have knowledge of record keeping procedures for processing stock transactions and maintaining inventory control
• you have experience in storekeeping operations, including purchasing, storage and inventory control, security, shipping and packaging
• you can interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulation and policies (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS) to ensure proper handling, mixing and storage of goods, and to maintain safety and security of stock areas

Computer Skills:

• you are proficient in database software to record stock transactions, track and monitor materials, supplies and equipment
• you are proficient in spreadsheet software to prepare reports

Communication, Interpersonal and Training Skills:

• you can explain instructions and procedures, assign work, inspect for quality and completion
• you can interact effectively with staff, suppliers and offender helpers using tact and discretion

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills:

• you can identify and prevent safety risks, and resolve billing issues and discrepancies
• you can evaluate and recommend improvements to existing operations
• you can manage workload to meet fluctuating priorities

Mathematical Skills:

• you can maintain accurate records, and you can calculate and reconcile purchasing orders and supplies
• you have good attention to detail
