What can I expect to do in this role?
We are seeking an individual to:
• determine methods, procedures and techniques for improvement of productions and quality
• provide expertise and training to team members
• maintain records and prepare reports
• coordinate the collections of eggs, fish marking and fish distribution operations
• develop long-range plans, procedures and guidelines
• coordinate annual maintenance functions and maintain inventory
• review data collection and monitor the preparation and submissions of specimens
How do I qualify?
Mandatory requirement:
• You possess a valid Ontario class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario.
Technical knowledge:
• You possess working knowledge of all aspects of fish culture management practices as well as related fish culture goals and objectives.
• You possess a clear understanding of fish culture techniques and recognized fish husbandry practices.
• You are knowledgeable of operation and maintenance procedures specific to fish culture stations.
Interpersonal and organizational skills:
• You are able to communicate tactfully when dealing with both public and staff.
• You possess demonstrated leadership skills to work within a team environment and provide information and training to colleagues and management.
• You have strong interpersonal skills to deal with external stakeholders.
• You have the ability to plan projects, can evaluate information and findings and possess organizational skills to deal with multiple work demands.
• You possess proven time management skills to meet deadlines.
General skills:
• You are able to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, objectives and guidelines.
• You possess the ability to work with budgets and apply administrative procedures.
• You are very proficient with various computer applications, email and the internet.
