The Licensing & Registration Branch requires a Liquor Licensing Officer to review, evaluate and process licence/permit applications and documents consistent with the Liquor Licence Act, Regulations and Commission policies.

What can I expect to do in this role?

The successful incumbent will use their sound knowledge of the Liquor Licence Act and Regulations to interpret Commission policies and procedures providing detailed advice and instructions to applicants and stakeholders. You will identify and obtain any outstanding requirements for applications; review and research AGCO liquor and gaming records to determine any current/past history of an applicant/establishment which could impact the approval of the application; make appropriate recommendations to the Deputy Registrar; prepare extensive detailed file summaries and record application data on the AS400 system. In addition, you will use superior communication and customer service skills to respond to complex inquiries and concerns both verbally and in writing.

How do I qualify?

The ideal candidate must have:

• Well-developed organizational skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
• Strong analytical and intuitive skills.
• Possess exceptional tact, integrity, judgment and discretion.
• Excellent in-depth knowledge of the various application systems used by the Branch (e.g. AS/400, LOTS, etc.) and experience using PC applications (Word, Excel, Access and Visio) is required.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining a high volume of work.
• The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.

The screening check(s) will only be reviewed and evaluated by the TSO for the purpose of making a security clearance decision. The details of an individual's screening check(s) will be considered in specific relation to the duties and responsibilities of the position being filled. Screening check records will be maintained by the TSO and kept strictly confidential.
