Are you a creative individual who is passionate about communications? Do you have the ability to draw from your expertise in researching, building relationships, deciphering information and creating meaningful messages to successfully support the Communications team and client groups across the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)? If this sounds like you, the AGCO would like to hear from you.

The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming and horse racing sectors and cannabis retail in Ontario in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest. We are looking to hire an Advisor, Communications to provide communications and public relations advice, product development, and support to the AGCO.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Under the supervision of the Director, Communications, the successful candidate will:
• Provide communications advice and support to the organization's strategic and operational services
• Develop, with senior management and client groups, communication objectives, strategies, products and messages
• Monitor media coverage on matters relevant to the AGCO
• Conduct research to assess the stakeholder environment
• Write and produce a range of electronic and print communications and promotional materials
• Coordinate the design, development and production of communication products
• Conduct/participate in projects for the planning, design and implementation of special events/conferences/meetings, etc. in support of the organization, coordinate the execution of logistical and communications requirements appropriate to the event, including, e.g., invitations, promotions, media advisories, etc.
• Participate in the review and development of policies, procedures, processes and standards for electronic and print communication systems to ensure consistency internally and with government guidelines and standards
• Ensure products meet French-language and accessibility requirements

How do I qualify?

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Communications, Media, or Journalism
• Experience demonstrating superior writing, organizational, analytical, and research skills
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally and provide advice to all levels of the organization
• Sound judgement and sensitivity to issues and ability to work with a diverse client group
• Ability to work within tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment
• Strong knowledge of how regulatory bodies function and familiarity with the strategic issues facing the AGCO's regulated industries
• Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of various software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
