Please Note:
• Both positions will be held from mid - October to early June.
• The seasonal position will receive full-time hours. The shifts are 24/7 and 7 days a week, and the work schedule for the entire season will be provided in October.
• The irregular on-call position will have no guaranteed hours of work.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• Ensure the quality, accuracy and consistent communication of highway conditions, closures, construction, emergency information and alerts flowing to the Public in English and French on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation.
• Perform ongoing monitoring and quality assurance of the Ontario 511 website functionality.
• Identify transportation incidents with the potential to require the activation of minister emergency response mechanisms and conduct applicable notifications, as required.
• Manage the ministry's bilingual Ontario 511, provincial and regional Traveller Information Twitter accounts including responding to social media inquiries
• Record traveller information messages in French on the Province's Integrated Voice Recognition (IVR), 511 telephone service channel.
• Act as the first point of contact to triage all ministry email general inquiries and complaints related to Ministry programs, products and services

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are proficient in oral at the advanced level and in written French at the advanced minus level, in order to provide high quality services.

Communication and Organizational Skills

• You have written communication skills to summarize data into accurate, clear and concise documents for timely distribution to the public through web and social media channels.
• You have verbal communication skills to summarize and distribute information to the public through the phone recording system and work effectively with stakeholders.
• You have excellent time management and organizational skills to coordinate and balance competing demands while ensuring information is quickly distributed to the public.

Judgement and Problem Solving Skills

• You have demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a team.
• You have sound judgement and problem solving skills when responding to emergencies and resolving routine issues.
• You have the ability to triage common ministry questions and issues ensuring timely and accurate customer service responses to all incoming email inquiries.

Computer skills

• You have working knowledge of computer software and applications such as Internet, email, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• You have working knowledge of social media as a communication and customer service channel.
