What can I expect to do in this role?
The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Regional Commander of North East Region requires a qualified individual to manage court case files for a detachment, providing liaison services with the court and monitoring the progress of files through the court system. To provide court security services for the detachment and court and to participate in the escort of offenders
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.
Ability to attain and maintain Special Constable Status and appointment.
Ability to pass and maintain ongoing certification is Use of Force.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class G Driver's licence, in good standing, for the purpose of transporting offenders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of policies/ procedures and legislation related to court proceedings, administration and documentation.
Knowledge of relevant sections of legislation such as the Criminal Code, Young Offenders Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, Family Law Act, provincial offenses and municipal by-laws to coordinate court proceedings, prepare briefs and other court documents.
Knowledge of court processes, procedures, operations and scheduling to coordinate and monitor court proceedings.
Knowledge of processes and procedures for prisoner search to conduct searches of prisoners and persons taken into custody at court proceedings.
Knowledge of basic prisoner care as prescribed by policy to attend to and escort persons in custody. Knowledge of relevant sections of WHMIS and workplace safety to take DNA samples and escort prisoners.
Organizational skills to coordinate and track all arrangements and documentation pertaining to detachment case files being processed in court. Ability to schedule court dates according to officer availability and reschedule to resolve conflicting dates.
Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated written communication skills.
Ability to maintain the highest degree of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
Ability to problem solve and coordinate to provide direction, resolve issues and make decisions.

Note: The identified successful candidate will need to participate in and successfully complete mandatory training to ensure they are able to fulfill the duties of this position (Special Constable Status and Use of Force training).
