Are you an experienced digital communications professional? Do you have strong communications planning skills with experience designing creative communications strategies? If so, consider this exciting opportunity where you will provide digital and strategic communications expertise to support the Ontario Human Rights Commission's (OHRC) mandate to promote, protect and advance respect for human rights and to identify and promote the elimination of discriminatory practices.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• plan and coordinate the publication and distribution of digital and print communication materials including the OHRC's website
• contribute to the OHRC's social media strategy and implementation
• identify new or changing communication requirements
• evaluate and report on the effectiveness of digital and publication distribution in the context of the OHRC's communication objectives
• support public education activities through planning, coordinating or delivering information through email, social media and representing the OHRC at a variety of functions.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

• You demonstrate knowledge of digital communications, including HTML, Java, javascript, webpage design, web design tools (e.g. Drupal), online communication technology and common office software (e.g. MS Office, desktop publishing and design software, internet, e-mail), to prepare documents and coordinate the dissemination of information efficiently and effectively
• You demonstrate knowledge of communication methods and techniques and practices
• You have knowledge of accepted writing and editing techniques, standards and practices to write copy for OHRC publications (e.g. newsletters, pamphlets), organize text, select writing styles, and edit copy.

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

• You have analytical and problem solving skills to ensure accuracy and compliance in communications process and content
• You have analytical skills to evaluate and make recommendations regarding the OHRC website
• You have analytical and problem solving skills to resolve production and scheduling issues to ensure on-time delivery of communications materials
• You can analyze feedback or other usage data, and produce regular and ad hoc reports for management

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You demonstrate written communication skills to write and edit a variety of communications materials describing programs, services, new initiatives and achievements in plain language
• You have oral communication skills to discuss production/publication needs, communication objectives and deliver information to individuals and community organizations
• You have interpersonal skills to coordinate and work in a team environment.

Planning and Organizational Skills:

• You demonstrate planning, organization and coordination skills to plan and implement production/creative services and resolve problems to meet strict quality standards and deadlines
• You can maintain contact databases and electronic mailing lists, and manage inventory databases to ensure accurate distribution of publications.
