The Ministry of Health, Drug Programs Policy and Strategy Branch, Pharmaceutical Strategy Unit, seeks an experienced Pharmacist to oversee and coordinate the audit activities for claims paid for under the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Act.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Provide professional advisory services and expertise on audit findings
• Coordinate audit activities, conduct on-site audits and make recommendations to senior management for ongoing and future audit activities and priorities
• Provide interpretation and application of pharmacy legislation and branch policies
• Represent the branch at inspections and other fraud-related initiatives
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You are a registered Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
Pharmaceutical Knowledge
• You have knowledge of pharmacy operations, professional pharmacy practice and regulatory environment governing provincial drug programs
• You have knowledge of retail pharmacy operations and management
• You have a good understanding of the ministry's health claims payment network operation and capability
Auditing Knowledge and Technical Skills
• You have knowledge of audit techniques and practices to conduct and ensure effective, fair audits
• You have knowledge of courtroom procedures and rules of evidence to represent the ministry at legal proceedings
• You have knowledge of computer applications, including structured-query language and data analysis software, to extract and analyze data, identify audit candidates and claims payment anomalies.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
• You can extract, analyze and interpret claims payment data and summary statistics
• You can design audit approaches, identify anomalous patters ad claims by applying pre-defined and ad hoc computer-based tests
• You can research, investigate, assess credibility and relevance of information
Interpersonal, Negotiation and Communication Skills
• You have excellent communication skills to articulate audit information clearly and concisely
• You can prepare audit reports, briefings and written recommendations
• You can use negotiation skills to advise on and conduct complex audits
