The Strategic and Business Management Branch (SBMB) oversees business operations, service delivery and strategic planning for the Civil Law Division. In addition to developing and implementing frameworks that support MAG and OPS strategic priorities, SBMB is responsible for transformation and innovation within the division. The branch is also responsible for: project management, performance measurement, business analytics, finance, HR, communications, organizational reporting and tracking operational deliverables.

We are currently recruiting for a highly seasoned and skilled Senior Manager – Civil Law IT Programs who will lead the development, implementation, and delivery of a multi-year, multi phased IT program within the Civil Law Division.

What can I expect to do in this role?
• Understanding the evolving needs and longer-term trends of the Civil Law Division, from technical and business perspectives, you will plan and manage IT programs from concept to execution
• You will lead the design, development, and implementation of a legal case and document management system with a user base of approximately 900 staff, including the provision of technical leadership, conduct cost-benefit analyses, strategies and business cases
• You will oversee Civil Law technical programs and the delivery of its multiple projects, assessments, to identify, map, analyze and evaluate strategic options to meet the requirements of the division, and present recommendations to senior management
• You will manage the project from the initial conceptual phase by implementing common project methodology and project management processes and through the procurement, vendor selection and negotiation processes, contract award, and design/construction phase.
You will build and manage effective stakeholder and client relationships across the division, the ministry, and the OPS.
You will develop and mentor the project team to deliver on results; assign work and provide feedback; engage team members in a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting innovation and creativity.
How do I qualify?
Project management and leadership skills:
• You have knowledge and skills in the application of project management and business planning This may be acquired through such things as recent work experience and/or Project Management certification,
• You are familiar with decision-making, procurement and approvals structures at all levels of government.
• You have group leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and direction to project staff.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of provincial and ministry strategic directions, priorities, and objectives to provide direction and advice to senior management, project coordinators, managers, peers and internal and external stakeholders.
• You have team leadership skills to plan, organize, coordinate and control the work of multiple concurrent projects and project team members.
Technical Knowledge
You have:
• practical management knowledge of large-scale technology systems and infrastructure, with broad based knowledge of I&IT operational practices and standards
• excellent technical elemental knowledge surrounding hardware platforms, networks, architecture, security and software
• knowledge of relevant information technology related policies and procedures, financial and human resource standards, and practices
Communication and Stakeholder Relations Skills
• You have highly developed communication, presentation and negotiation skills to provide advice and guidance to senior management in support of decision making
• You can effectively share information, resolve issues and develop working relationships with divisional partners, stakeholders, clients and contracted service providers
• You have oral communication and consultation skills to provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.
• You have relationship management skills to build collaborative partnerships with industry clients, project teams and ministry colleagues.
• You have written communication and computer skills to develop a variety of documents (e.g. briefing notes, work plans, presentation materials).
