Do you have superior customer service and communication skills? The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities seek a team players who are interested in helping students obtain financing for their postsecondary education.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• provide high quality customer service, information and application assistance for student financial aid programs/ Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
• respond to telephone inquiries on the ministry's toll-free lines
• determine eligibility for loans, grants, bursaries and scholarships by evaluating eligibility of applications
• review, verify and process various student applications for accuracy and policy compliance

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

- Proficiency in oral and written French at the advanced level

Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

• You have proven customer service skills to deal tactfully and courteously with the public, other staff, MPP's and financial aid representatives.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, directives and policies.
• You have strong interpersonal skills to communicate with the public, other staff members and financial aid representatives.
• You have the ability to work independently to respond to inquiries and resolve routine items relating to OSAP applications and eligibility.
• You have previous experience verifying and reviewing information submitted, identifying discrepancies and following up to obtain correct information.

Organizational Skills:

• You have demonstrated ability to organize own work and flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.
• You have the ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

Other Essential Skills:

• You have the ability to determine eligibility for loans, grants, bursaries, and scholarships by evaluating eligibility of applications in accordance with program guidelines and calculating financial needs.
• You have the ability to assist in training new or temporary staff and sharing skills with other members of the Program Unit.
• You have the ability to assist with various clerical tasks in the program Unit such as receiving and distributing mail, data entry of forms and applications and other related duties.
• You have the ability to acquire knowledge of all Student Financial Assistance Branch programs, policies and procedures for all programs relating to loans, grants, bursaries/awards, scholarships.

Computer Skills:

• You have the ability to use fully programmable word processing (e.g. MS Word) and various online computer software programs.
