Do you have experience in policy research and analysis and want to contribute to the future direction of the Ministry of Francophone Affairs (MFA) programs and initiatives? If so, then consider this exciting opportunity where you will provide senior policy and strategic support related to the government's French language services.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Provide expert advice, recommendations and guidance on policy issues
• Perform highly complex and sensitive corporate policy research and assessment
• Lead and coordinate policy and program development projects and formulation of strategic plans
• Carry out risk and cost-benefit analyses and ensure alignment of proposed policy with the corporate agenda and priorities for French language services
• Work with the MFA staff to resolve key issues
• Oversee preparation of materials, and work with stakeholders.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Proficiency level will be verified by an Ontario Public Service (OPS) approved evaluator.

Leadership and Project Management Skills:

• You have strong leadership skills to lead projects, staff and team members
• You have excellent planning, organizational and project management skills
• You have knowledge of issues management processes to identify and draw attention to Francophone policy needs

Business Knowledge and Skills:

• You have knowledge of objectives and mandate of the Ministry of Francophone Affairs
• You understand current issues and priorities of Francophone citizens, communities and stakeholder organizations
• You are able to interpret legislation and regulations governing French language services and Francophone affairs

Policy and Research Knowledge and Skills:

• You have knowledge of strategic policy analysis and development techniques
• You understand the government decision-making approvals process as well as ministry policies and practices to draft positions, options, strategies, proposals, Cabinet submissions, legislation and regulations in support of policy issues
• You have knowledge of strategic planning approaches and methodologies, research techniques, evidence development processes as well as program evaluation and measurement techniques
• You are able to identify and assess unprecedented or unique policy circumstances not currently addressed

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You have excellent oral and written communication skills to represent the MFA/ministry at inter-provincial conferences and stakeholder meetings
• You are able to provide strategic advice and analysis to the Assistant Deputy Minister and Deputy Minister
• You can prepare and deliver presentations, reports and policy options/recommendations, proposals, briefing and background materials for senior management, the ADM and Deputy Minister
• You have excellent stakeholder relations skills to develop and maintain relationships with OPS ministries, the federal government and counterparts in other provinces
