The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development seeks an experienced Psychologist to join a dedicated team of professionals in the design and delivery of the ministry's policies and programs to address workplace violence, workplace harassment and workplace mental health. As a Registered Psychologist, you will provide subject matter expertise in these areas from a psychological perspective.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Research and develop program and related operational policy specific to prevention of workplace violence and harassment, and promotion of workplace mental health
• Evaluate options and risks, and recommend actions
• Develop, deliver and evaluate training materials and tools
• Provide professional policy and program expertise, and general support to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspectorate
• Represent the ministry by participating as an expert in program specific committees and meetings with internal and external stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are registered in good standing as a Psychologist in autonomous practice in the Province of Ontario

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• You have expertise in psychology, including knowledge of the science and practices in psychology
• You have knowledge of a full range of workplace relevant assessment techniques, including trends and developments in workplace harassment and violence prevention, protection and compliance, and workplace mental health promotion, to plan, research, develop and advise on policies, programs and performance measures
• You have a good understanding of organizational theory related to workplace relationship dynamics in order to anticipate, and respond to, sensitive issues effectively
• You have knowledge of the Ontario business/industrial community, the occupational health and safety system and the human rights framework as a context for policy and program development and review, as well as for individual investigations

Judgement, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• You can use and execute research into policy and program design and implementation
• You can exercise discretion and judgement on the revelation and discussion of sensitive, confidential and personal information
• You can work collaboratively with, advise, and negotiate agreement with internal and external stakeholders

Communication, Interpersonal and Consultation Skills

• You can communicate information and interpret policies and programs effectively
• You demonstrate experience in conducting sensitive interviews
• You can prepare, deliver and evaluate training and presentations
• You can sustain trust and maintain strong working relationships with multi-disciplinary teams and contacts

Project Management and Time Management Skills

• You can lead program activities and projects, and represent the ministry on various committees
• You can balance competing demands to effectively meet deadlines
