What can I expect to do in this role?

The Ontario Science Centre needs your scientific expertise, innovation and communication talents. As a participant on the science content development team with other staff you will: research, interpret and communicate scientific and technical information in the areas of environmental science and related disciplines for the conceptualization, research, development, design and maintenance of exhibits; provide input and analysis in the review of exhibits, and act as a scientific resource to staff and public within this discipline.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge of Environmental Science

• Knowledge in the field of environmental science to assess the scientific integrity of information sources and to interpret/evaluate the scientific validity of information to be used by the centre.
• Knowledge of current scientific developments in environmental science and technology

Communication Skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills as they relate to the interpretation of complex scientific technical information into easily understood exhibit ideas
• Excellent presentation, analytical, conceptual and customer service skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and in project settings;
• Flexibility in relating to diverse audiences and levels of understanding of science and technology;
• Creativity and innovative thinking skills to translate complex scientific phenomenon into simple activities or physical forms that can convey the concepts to the general public.

Research and Program Planning Skills

• Ability to research and develop new exhibit and program ideas
• Ability to develop methods for translating scientific and technological concepts into practical exhibits and programs
• Research skills to identify sources, field experts and technology within the industry
• Ability to represent the OSC in the scientific and academic communities
