What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Use research principles and techniques to conduct research by collecting, analyzing and interpreting data from various sources
• Develop research study design, methodology, terms of reference, data sources and requirements to meet a range of research needs
• Analyze and synthesize complex research results and identify recommendations regarding existing programs and policies
• Develop responses, based on data/evidence and research, to internal and external requests for information
• Develop report design and structure, ensuring reporting and presentation of information is clear and comprehensive

How do I qualify?

Research Expertise:

• You have knowledge of, and experience with, research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative analysis, data analysis, and modelling techniques
• You have knowledge of performance measurement techniques and tools, and key performance indicators (KPIs) as well as program evaluation methodologies
• You have experience conducting jurisdictional/environmental scans, literature reviews, and trend analysis
• You are able to develop consultation questionnaires and surveys
• You are proficient with computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database packages, to assess data, conduct analysis and prepare reports and presentations

Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills:

• You can filter, synthesize and translate a range of diverse data/information into meaningful insights and identify implications based on evidence and research findings
• You can determine optimal method/format for the dissemination of results and research findings
• You are able to identify issues that potentially impact ministry policies and programs, and provide advice and recommendations for management decision-making

Communication, Presentation and Consultation Skills:

• You can develop clear documents in support of research findings, and prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, and briefing materials
• You are able to present research findings to branch management as well as articulate key issues, explain analysis, and liaise with a variety of internal ministry staff
• You can effectively consult and collaborate with internal and external partners to facilitate information gathering and contribute to research projects/studies
• You are able to work cooperatively and collaboratively and within the unit

Project Management, Planning and Organizational Skills:

• You can create and maintain project tracking documents, schedules, databases and tools for research projects/studies
• You can ensure projects are completed within designated timelines
