The Ministry

The Branch

The Corporate Health Care and Wellness Branch (CHCWB) is responsible for strategic planning, delivery and evaluation of policy and program strategies that support the delivery of "whole of health" care services within correctional facilities across the province end to end. The CHCWB oversees operations in areas such as Mental Health and Addictions, Equitable Health Care, Nutrition and Accessibility, and Occupational Health and Safety. The CHCWB ensures a standardized, client-centered model of care that meets the diverse and unique needs of clients and staff in corrections and establish and maintain relationships with other ministries and health care stakeholders.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• Develop and implement a comprehensive and robust change management strategy for the implementation of electronic medical records for the inmates of all correctional facilities across the province.
• Provide strategic advice to management on complex and contentious issues relating to change management surrounding digital health projects.
• Plan, oversee, and manage the transition of change initiatives for the ministry.
• Collaborate with the Senior Management Team, as well as management and staff in other areas, in order to provide advice and enhance plans, products and services.
• Chair or participate on committees and networks to provide change management expertise and leadership.
• Oversee the work of consultants to ensure deliverables are provided within agreed upon timeline.
• Manage procurement processes to secure vendors through the approved processes.

How do I qualify?

Change Management Expertise:

• You have expertise in organizational development and change management.
• You have knowledge of theories, principles, practices and trends in change management.
• You have experience providing strategic advice to senior management on strategies, planning and best practices for organizational effectiveness and transition.
• You have business planning and program management experience including business process design, program management, performance review and quality management.

Project Management Experience:

• You have project planning and management skills to undertake and coordinate initiatives regarding organizational design and development.
• You can oversee the work of external consultants and service providers.
• You have knowledge of diverse customer needs and expectations in order to plan and lead projects.
• You have IT project management experience in order to provide advice to management and project teams.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

• You have excellent oral and written communication skills to conduct consultations, deliver reports, proposals and associated communications.
• You have relationship management, consensus building and negotiation skills to deal with contentious issues, lead projects, participate on diverse committees and lead consultations with stakeholders.
• You can develop and maintain working relationships and key linkages with internal and external clients.

Government Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of government directions, decision-making processes and strategic operational planning.
• You have knowledge of Ministry and Branch strategies, plans, administrative policies, directives, best practices, standards, legislation and agreements to ensure compliance.

Research and Analytical Skills:

• You have research skills to create and recommend options for organizational improvement's, transition strategies and other business solutions.
• You have an understanding of key performance indicators, qualitative and quantitative measurement and risk assessment to develop, apply and evaluate results.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• You have health care knowledge.
• You can operate software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, e-mail and the internet in order to conduct research, prepare documents and presentations and maintain contact with clients and colleagues.
