The Ministry of Government & Consumer Services, Ontario Shared Services is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to handle the processing and distribution of mail & courier items through the process of receiving and shipping.
This is a regular, part-time position of four hours a day, 20 hours a week.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• sort mail received daily from Canada Post Corp. private courier companies and government mail services;
• process, sort, stamp and log incoming and outgoing mail;
• write reports on damaged goods;
• ensure goods being shipped are properly packed and addresses.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Requires frequent lifting of parcels, boxes and mail bags that could weigh up to 50 pounds.
Mailroom Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of mailroom and government mailing procedures.
• You have knowledge of relevant Canada Post, Courier company procedures.
• You have knowledge of postage equipment, meters, weight machines.
• You have knowledge of geographic areas covered by couriers.
Other Essential Skills:
• You have knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Material Information Systems and Transportation and Dangerous Goods Act as it applies to mailroom procedures.
• You have communication skills to respond to client inquiries and complete reports.
• You have the ability to use a personal computer.
• You have organizational skills to complete work assignments and maintain deadlines.
