Come showcase your research, analytical, coordination and leadership skills as a Data Management Specialist with the Health Data Branch of the Ministry of Health.

You will provide data analysis and expertise for business cases, data and information management projects, and develop processes and procedures for acquiring/collecting authoritative health data.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this challenging role, you will:

• Lead and/or coordinate the delivery of data and information management components related to strategic Health Data Branch projects
• Initiate and maintain ongoing business relationships with Ministry Program Areas and other internal and external stakeholders..
• Conduct research of innovations and emerging trends in data management and analytics to inform and support the development of ministry's data management and analytical methodologies and standards.
Lead testing of draft changes implemented in the test environment
• Research, prepare and edit issues correspondence related to data collection and reporting requirements
• Identify gaps, overlap and system problems that prevent consistent reporting

How do I qualify?

Analytical and Evaluative Skills:

• You have knowledge of data models, data management technology, data analysis models and techniques.
• You can develop and analyze complex data and prepare issues management materials, reports, and plans.
• You can identify new data requirements to meet client needs and assess how the data will be used, and where it can be stored and accessed.
• Knowledge and experience working with large datasets containing millions of data points.
• Knowledge of legislation and directives governing access, security, privacy and client business activities.

Project Leadership Skills:

• You can ensure that acquired health data meets standards and can support Ontario's health care service accountability role.
• You can lead and advise on data compatibility and change requirements and recommend solutions.
• You can oversee the creation of automated or manual processes for the collection of new data and system changes.

Specialized Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of the strategic directions and priorities for hospitals, mental health, long-term care, acute and community health care delivery systems.
• You can interpret and apply related legislation such as the Public Hospitals Act, Ministry of Health Act, Private Hospitals Act, FIPPA.
• You have in-depth knowledge of healthcare management practices, health systems operations and standards.

Relationship Management and Communication Skills:

• You can liaise and provide reporting information, assessment and interpretation services to others as necessary
• You can establish and foster productive cross-sector relationships with senior level internal and external decision-makers and stakeholders
• You can present recommendations, exchange information, and provide training
• You can prepare reports, program and briefing materials

Other Essential Skills:

• You can balance a demanding workload with competing priorities.
• You can create statistical spreadsheets, word processing and work with graphic software
