What can I expect to do in this role?

As the Program, Manager, Policy and Implementation, you will:

• Motivate, coach, mentor and manage a team of professional staff, while supporting and promoting a productive, diverse and inclusive work environment.
• Lead and direct the planning, development, evaluation and implementation of strategic program frameworks to support delivery, transformation and change management initiatives.
• Lead and direct stakeholder relations, consultations, engagement and facilitation to oversee partnership and consensus building in delivering programs that support ministry strategies and goals.
• Provide expertise and advice to ministry senior management and staff on program and policy development and implementation options, recommendations, risks and issues management strategies.
• Lead projects to develop business change management options, proposals and strategies to maximize the effectiveness of programs delivery.

How do I qualify?

Leadership Skills

• You have leadership skills with ability to lead, coach and develop professional staff to achieve results on high-profile initiatives.
• You have experience leading projects through the decision-making process (e.g. preparation of Cabinet submissions and support documentation, briefing Cabinet committees, etc.).
•You have experience leading a diverse team, with demonstrated ability to champion employee engagement and create an inclusive and productive work environment
• You have experience applying good judgement and political acuity to manage complex, sensitive and high-profile issues.

Analytical and Strategic Skills

• You can identify critical issues and recommend options for resolving using variety of techniques
• You can assess, advise and appropriately delegate or collaborate on requests for information and consultations
• You can conduct research, gather information, evaluate, develop reports/background material and provide recommendations on appropriate course of action
• You are keenly aware of the government's strategic directions, priorities, issues and challenges.

Program Management and Planning Skills

• You have demonstrated understanding of project management principles and methodologies to manage the delivery of program plans, initiatives and goals.
• You have experience in resource management, business process and change management principles/practices and techniques to maximize the effectiveness of program delivery
• You have a well-developed understanding of policy development, government decision making processes and requirements for regulatory decision making.
• You are familiar with current and emerging trends in project, program and policy development, ensuring legislative responsibilities and program delivery timelines are met.

Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills

• You have demonstrated success fostering collaborative relationships with multiple diverse clients and business partners within the ministry and across government.
• You have superior written and verbal communication skills and proven experience providing briefings, advice, and effective presentations to a variety of audiences in a clear and understandable manner.
• You have demonstrated superior consultation and negotiation skills to coordinate linkages and build consensus between stakeholder groups with competing priorities.
