Consider this opportunity with the Drug Programs Policy and Strategy Branch, Ministry of Health, where you will utilize your community pharmacy management expertise.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Conduct on-site inspections of pharmacies and other service providers to confirm legislation and rules governing the dispensing, distribution, storage and reimbursement of pharmaceuticals are followed
• Review claims and payments to ensure compliance with legislation
• Prepare reports on inspections and/or operational issues
• Respond to inquiries related to the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) programs
• Represent the ministry at legal proceedings

Travel Requirements:
Requires the ability to travel to pharmacy locations in Central and Southwestern Ontario, including occasional travel to Northern locations. Some travel to the Toronto head office will be required.

The position requires the ability to travel in to various branch locations.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You have a degree in pharmacy and a Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists in good standing.
• Valid Class G driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.

Specialized Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of legislation governing the provincial drug program.
• You have knowledge of pharmacy practice and operations.
• You have experience in community pharmacy management.
• You have clinical knowledge in pharmacy, therapeutics and pharmacology.

Auditing Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of audit techniques and procedures.

Communication, Interpersonal and Advisory Skills:

• You can articulate inspection findings and provide information about the Ontario Public Drug Programs clearly and concisely.
• You can prepare written reports, detailed analyses and recommendations.
• You can present findings and educate peers.

Analytical and Research Skills:

• You can identify abnormal drug utilization patterns, and prepare evaluative reports.
• You can research, assess and determine credibility/relevance of verbal information and documents.

Computer Skills:

• You can use computer applications such as word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
• You are familiar with the technology and software support systems used in community pharmacy.
