If this describes you, then consider this challenging opportunity where you will provide financial, administrative, customer service and clerical support to the Ministry Emergency Operations Centre (MEOC).

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• provide financial, administrative and clerical support
• update and manipulate data in various databases
• receive, check and forward daily and annual reports
• track Ministry Emergency Operations Centre (MEOC) activities and resources and produce information on request
• ensure information is posted to the intranet and internet
• maintain distribution lists as well as manual and electronic filing systems
• provide customer service to internal and external clients

NOTE: You will be required to work compressed shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays during the fire season (April to October). You may be required to work overtime.

How do I qualify?

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• you have proven customer service skills to respond to a variety of requests in a timely and accurate manner in person, by telephone and through written correspondence
• you have well developed written communication skills to compose correspondence and reports
• you have interpersonal skills to discuss/resolve problems and build and maintain relationships
• you have proven group leadership and team work skills to train and direct season/summer support staff

Organizational and Prioritization Skills

• you have effective organizational and prioritization skills to assess administrative requirements, and determine priorities among conflicting demands
• you have demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high volume team environment with minimal supervision
• you have the ability to work under pressure including unscheduled hours during fire or emergency situations

Computer Skills

• you are proficient with computers and all aspects of desktop software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email, and internet/intranet to perform a variety of tasks
• you have knowledge of and experience with information management systems (e.g. ACIMS, DFOSS, PIMS, IMIS, IFIS) to input and retrieve data

Administrative and Financial Skills

• you have proven experience providing administrative and clerical support
• you have knowledge of administrative and office procedures, practices, guidelines and equipment
• you have experience working with financial procedures and processes
• you are able to develop, organize and maintain electronic and manual file systems

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• you have proven analytical and problem solving skills to determine nature of inquires and urgency of matters
• you have can analyze and interpret complex financial information and reports
• you are able to identify and resolve discrepancies relating to invoices and updating of financial reports
• you have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, program policies and procedures
