What can I expect to do in this role?

As the Park Planner, you will:

• acquire and analyze information to prepare management statements, plans and amendments
• complete planning projects, write management statements, management plans and amendments to same for parks and park additions
• ensure parks planning/management direction is consistent with adjacent resource management or special resource management strategies (e.g. planned access, species at risk)
• prepare correspondence for planning projects
• participate in consultation for ongoing planning projects

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

You possess a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario.

Technical knowledge and skills:

• You are knowledgeable about protected areas planning policies, procedures and standards.
• You demonstrate knowledge of natural resource disciplines such as wildlife, forestry, biology, and landscape ecology.
• You are knowledgeable of and have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• You have a clear understanding of policies and guidelines to prepare management statements, management plans and amendments.

Interpersonal skills:

• You have strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and staff.
• You have the ability to work well in a team environment and building effective working relationships.

Organizational skills:

• You possess strong project management skills in order to manage multiple concurrent projects and work tasks.
• You possess well-honed organizational and priority setting/time management skills to deal with competing work demands.

Computer proficiency:

• You are proficient in a variety of common office software programs, such as word processors, spreadsheets, databases, email, internet, etc.

OPS COVID-19 Safe Workplace Directive
