If so, the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) requires your knowledge and expertise as an experienced information and customer service provider to provide first level assistance regarding public complaints in its Case Management Unit.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
•perform the mailroom function of receiving the complaints and related correspondence and inputting them into the database
•research information and provide approved answers on referrals
•determine if inquiries are within OIPRD jurisdiction
•assist the public in processing and tracking their complaints
•ensure complete and accurate recording and scanning recording of initial case data
•ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures
•participate in section reviews and remain current on OIPRD and related activities
How do I qualify?
Technical Knowledge:
•You have knowledge of appropriate tools and resources for information search and verification to provide prompt and accurate assistance to clients with a wide variety of information needs
•You have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of the organization's mandate, roles, major stakeholders, main provisions in legislation, policies and procedures, programs and services and related information resources and major issues
Accuracy and Analytical Skills:
•You have demonstrated analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills to gather and assess diverse information and assess facts and issues
•You have demonstrated ability to take accurate verbatim notes
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
•You have effective written and oral communication skills
•You have active listening and explanation skills, courtesy, patience, tact, empathy and diplomacy
•You have proven initiative, discretion and respect for confidentiality
•You have exemplary relationship management, client service and teamwork skills
•You have proven ability to apply stress management techniques to deal with adversarial clients

•You have the ability to work independently
Computer Skills:
•You are proficient using customized databases and standardized, fully programmable PC-based/networked software
•You have the ability to operate common office equipment
