Under the leadership of the Assistant Deputy Minister, the Fair, Safe and Healthy Workplaces Division is responsible for the enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act, 2000.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• provide financial and human resources analysis, support and advice to ministry programs (e.g. FTE's, estimates, appropriations, allotments, financial planning, monitoring, forecasting, reporting and analysis)
• assist the development and delivery of technical financial training
• review the efficiency of program delivery, set and monitor performance standards and targets
• evaluate results and propose new standards
• prepare financial reports, presentations and documents for management
• assist in divisional initiatives and projects
How do I qualify?
Financial and Business Knowledge
• You have sound knowledge of the principles and practices of the financial planning process (i.e. operational planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial and cost management control).
• You have expert knowledge of analytical techniques (i.e. variance reporting, cost benefit analysis and core business performance measures).
• You can follow financial policies and procedures as well as administrative and human resources practices, principles and standards.
• You can interpret legislation and understand the issues affecting your client groups.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
• You can interpret and analyze financial data in a wide variety of program activities.
• You have thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.
• You can use computer-based analysis and modeling techniques.
• You can conduct research and solve problems to implement program efficiency measures.
Communication and Teamwork Skills
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to prepare business cases, reports, presentations, provide advice and deliver training.
• You can work independently and as a member of a team.
