What can I expect to do in this role?
• Provide accounts payable and receivable (AP/AR), account reconciliation and banking services;
• Process AP/AR documents, such as invoices and expense claims, including coding and reviewing for accuracy and proper approvals, and follow up on overdue accounts;
• Reconcile sub-ledger accounts and tax credit fee revenue to the general ledger;
• Prepare information for GST/HST, income tax and CPP remittances;
• Provide assistance to staff on accounts payable and receivable matters;
• Use accounting and reporting software and systems to record financial transactions, generate reports and provide financial services.
How do I qualify?
Financial and Accounting Skills:
• You have knowledge of and experience in accounting, accounts payable and receivable.
• You can interpret and apply relevant financial, budgetary and expenditure related policies and procedures.
Computer Skills:
• You are proficient in accounting and reporting software and systems to record financial transactions, generate report and provide financial services. (e.g. Sage 300 ERP (ACCPAC) and Crystal Reports).
• You can use MS Word and Excel to prepare a variety of documents, reports and spreadsheets.
Arithmetic Skills:
• You can apply arithmetical principles and methods to identify errors, and perform financial calculations and reconciliations.
Organizational and Analytical Skills:
• You can balance competing priorities and ensure work is completed on-time.
• You can analyze expenditures, financial and budget reports, and forecast financial requirements.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You can provide detailed explanation of financial processes and procedures, explain financial errors and provide recommendations.
• You can compose written documents, proofread financial, statistical and text material, and develop regular and ad hoc financial reports.
