The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to assist with ensuring that Quality Control is maintained on its diverse fleet of aircraft. If you have a good understanding of Transport Canada Regulations, Aviation Maintenance Policy and Procedures and superior communication and interpersonal skills, consider this opportunity as a Quality Control Specialist.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• leads the development, coordination, evaluation of maintenance documentation and tracking systems
• provides specialized advice, recommendations and options regarding quality assurance changes, challenges and opportunities
• responsible for inspections of all maintenance facilities and operational bases and ensures that all maintenance related occurrences or hazard reports are actioned in a timely manner
• provides a high degree of leadership to establish relationships and consultation processes with clients, partners and stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You possess a valid Transport Canada aircraft maintenance engineer license M1 & M2.
• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You have the ability to obtain an airport security clearance as per Transport Canada requirements.

Technical expertise:

• You have thorough knowledge and experience with aircraft maintenance tracking systems and quality control and maintenance procedures to provide specialized technical advice and direction.
• You have well-developed computer skills to change hardcopy maintenance systems into efficient computer systems.
• You have thorough knowledge of Transport Canada Regulations (CARs), Safety Management Systems (SMS), and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) procedures and the ability to develop ministry maintenance policy and procedures.
• You have thorough knowledge, experience and understanding of repair and diagnosing defects in engines, flight systems, hydraulic systems, avionics systems, under-carriage and propulsion systems.
• You have thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and WHMIS legislation, to ensure compliance and a healthy workplace for all employees through proactive hazard precaution, recognition, evaluation and control.

Analytical and problem solving skills:

• You have well-developed research and analytical skills to conduct data and trend analysis and complex data quality investigations.
• You have superior problem solving skills with the ability to develop reports and analyses, which identifies data quality and compliance standards issues/deficiencies.
• You can analyze implications on short and long-term plans and objectives, develop options and see through the implementation of changes for improved practices procedures and standards.

Leadership skills and relationship building skills:

• You have leadership skills to provide as a specialist, oversight/technical direction and leadership to maintenance, flight and senior level staff as well as program managers.
• You can lead meetings, projects and working groups with a broad range of partners and stakeholders by providing expert consultation, strategic and specialized advice on various matters relating to the delivery of the ministry provincial multi-disciplinary air fleet maintenance programs.
• You can establishes relationships during consultation processes and ensure understanding, buy-in and commitment of all contributors.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You have superior communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice/expertise, and to represent the ministry and deliver informative, effective presentations to management, committees and work groups.
• You have superior written communications skills to prepare/oversee technical written resources and other administrative material.
