The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a dynamic, innovative regulatory agency responsible for delivering comprehensive regulatory oversight of Ontario's alcohol, cannabis, gaming and horse racing industries. We work every day to deliver first-class regulatory services to ensure the industries we regulate are conducted with honesty, integrity, and in the public interest.

The AGCO is looking for a talented and passionate individual with a strong commitment to public service to become Senior Coordinator in the Operations Division. The successful candidate will work in a strategic capacity alongside our Chief Operating Officer and Operations Divisions leadership team as we develop and implement transformative changes to provide integrated and effective regulatory services and programs across all four of the AGCO's lines of business.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer – and linked to the newly-created Operational Planning, Priorities and Performance Branch – the Senior Coordinator will be tasked with performing a diverse range of coordinating, planning, and advisory functions. This includes:

  • managing multi-channel business communications on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer to respond to requests and inquiries, resolve issues, and facilitate timely decision-making;
  • coordinating and attending recurring divisional planning and situational awareness meetings to ensure effective decision-making and execution of follow-up activities;
  • creating presentations, speeches, reports, correspondence and other materials for a diverse range of audiences and recipients;
  • collaborating with divisional leaders to manage the development and oversight of Operations Division's annual divisional planning activities; and
  • providing strategic advice and decision support to the Chief Operating Officer and divisional leaders on a wide range of regulatory and operational matters.


How do I qualify?

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree
  • J.D./LL.B. or master's degree in public administration, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of discretion and judgment with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality with highly sensitive information
  • Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and exercise sound independent judgment without direction
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and trust-based professional relationships
  • Previous experience in public sector, regulatory and/or legal environment would be an asset

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
