The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander, Investigation and Support Bureau are seeking a qualified individual to join the Joint Technical Assistance Centre. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide group leadership and guidance to the team members of JTAC and administrative management support to the Operations Manager, JTAC.

The Joint Technical Assistance Centre (JTAC) is a collaboration of the OPP, Toronto Police Service, Peel Regional Police, York Regional Police, Durham Regional Police and Ottawa Police Service. Led by the OPP, the JTAC will act as the hub for the lawful interception of private communications for all six police agencies.

What can I expect to do in this role?
To provide group leadership and guidance to the team members of JTAC and administrative management support to the Operations Manager, JTAC.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation. Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.
• Ability to achieve Ministry technical accreditation standards, including the cluster Domain Administrator's test.
• Ability to work on a regularly scheduled on-call basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of IT architecture concepts, systems design, development, integration & implementation. Current working knowledge of Internet, Intranet, e-commerce, e-business and other emerging and converging technologies to handle complex technological problems.
Knowledge of proposal development, RFP and tendering processes, contract administration to coordinate contractual agreements with vendors, suppliers, clients and internal OPP business units.
Knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques to develop and implement project plans, budgets, and human resources.
Knowledge of current and emerging Operating Systems for servers and desktops, Microsoft Office products and all related applications.
Knowledge of Virtual Private Network hardware and software, firewalls, Public Key Infrastructure applications, network communication protocols, network architecture and topology, database and specialized test and monitoring software.
Oral/written communication skills to make effective presentations to senior management staff on various technical issues. Ability to interact with staff, end users and the vendor community, to explain and clarify testing requirements and new procedures to technical and non-technical persons, to develop and conduct training seminars.
Ability to write technical documentation for system implementation and support, procedures and protocols and operating procedures/instructions.
Effective time and project management skills to work effectively under pressure, organize work, lead a team, direct tasks, and assignments to meet deadlines and manage multiple project teams, providing guidance to team leaders.
Analytical and evaluative skills to identify root cause, determine and resolve technical malfunctions occurring throughout the system and to implement solutions.
Ability to utilize programming tools, languages and design program specifications encompassing program structure & logic, data flow and construction to OPS standard.
Ability to pass the cluster Domain Administrator's test.
