What can I expect to do in this role?

As the Digital Content Strategist, you will lead planning and execution of digital content strategy for the Ontario Science Centre including social media and digital channels.

You can:
• Oversee the Ontario Science Centre's digital content strategy, ensuring it aligns with overall marketing and communications plans and priorities.
• Use your stellar visual, verbal and written storytelling skills to write, co-create, host, produce, optimize, edit and/or maintain content for the Ontario Science Centre.
• Work collaboratively in a multifunctional team, as well as with external agency partners.
• Continuously identify opportunities to update and adjust the content strategy as needed.
• Leverage research and data to develop and optimize campaigns.

How do I qualify?

Marketing and Communications Skills

You can:
• Develop and manage the digital content calendar, ensuring alignment across marketing and communications channels including e-newsletters, PR and earned media, and paid marketing campaigns.
• Create, produce, edit and optimize digital content that engages our audiences and builds brand affinity.
• Ensure the content strategy aligns with the Ontario Science Centre's brand identity, mission and purpose.
• Use creative, storytelling skills to highlight the Ontario Science Centre's educational mission.
• Work with other departments within the organization to develop and create digital content.
• Collaborate with colleagues responsible for programs, exhibitions and events to develop stories and content that amplify our reach.
• Leverage data and analytics to develop channel-specific strategies and tactics that reach key audience segments.
• Assess emerging trends, tools and techniques in digital and social media to promote programs, events and initiatives.
• Build, manage and engage social media communities though effective community management.
• Understand relevant legislation and best practices related to accessibility to ensure compliance in the development, design and presentation of content.

Project Management Skills

You can:
• Manage multiple projects concurrently on time and on budget.
• Use strong organizational skills to ensure focus on customers and business goals.
• Network effectively at all levels and influence without direct management oversight.
• Resolve project issues to ensure timely and quality outcomes.
• Lead multiple, concurrent projects and manage deadlines, working collaboratively with multifunctional teams, creative agencies and other stakeholders.
• Help manage the organization, storage and archiving of graphic assets, photos and videos.

Consultation, Advisory and Interpersonal Skills

You can:
• Use consultation, advisory and interpersonal skills to help in the development and implementation of the digital content calendar including social media.
• Leverage exceptional written, verbal, storytelling and interpersonal skills to produce powerful and effective digital content.
• Use strong presentation skills and competence with software programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) to support and articulate proposed ideas and plans to teams and management.
• Provide strategic guidance on the design of graphics and other creative options including videos to support social and digital media strategies.
• Present design concepts and explain production requirements to external suppliers.
• Meet with clients and stakeholders to fully understand their business needs and develop positive working relationships.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Research and Analytical Skills

You can:
• Develop and analyze key performance indicators of digital content and modify strategies based on identified patterns and trends to achieve business goals.
• Leverage customer research, personas, journey maps, test and learn, and data insights to develop and optimize strategic content and engagement campaigns.
• Report on KPIs and success metrics and evaluate ROI.
• Drive insight into action by demonstrating strength in problem solving and analytics.
